Our Story

Alexis grew up in Worcester, where she began her journey in food at her family’s landmark business, George’s Coney Island Hot Dogs. After graduating from Wellesley College and attending the New England Culinary Institute, Alexis worked in Charlottesville, VA, and Boston before returning to Worcester to join Crust Bakeshop.

Crust opened in 2014 with Alexis as one of the original bakers. In 2017, she and her partner, Nate Rossi, took over as owners, marking a new chapter for the bakery. The couple, who met at Crust in 2016, share a deep passion for food and community. In 2018, they expanded by opening North Main Provisions, a wine, cheese, and provisions shop located next door to Crust, where they could share their favorite flavors with the community.

Now celebrating over 10 years in business, Crust expanded to a second location in 2020 at 1 West Boylston Street in Chadwick Court, bringing their beloved breads and baked goods to even more of Worcester. In 2021, they further expanded by integrating North Main Provisions into a larger space, offering a full experience of artisan bread, cheese, wine, and local provisions all in one place.

In 2024, Alexis and Nate took on a new adventure, purchasing Birchtree Bread Co., another cherished local bakery, to continue growing their love for exceptional food and supporting Worcester’s vibrant food scene.
